Professor Robin Callender Smith is available for appointment or nomination as a mediator in UK and international disputes requiring a professional and neutral approach to dispute resolution.

He completed his mediation qualifications in London at the internationally recognised Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).

Generally, a mediator’s skills focus on facilitating a process where the parties, themselves, reach a solution they devise and agree on. Occasionally, however, the mediator’s sectoral expertise can assist the parties in overcoming obstacles within the process.

Professor Callender Smith specialises in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sector and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb). His other sectors of practical and expert experience for mediation are:

  • Consumer energy regulation.
  • Data protection and Environmental information.
  • Disciplinary matters.
  • Financial services regulation and the application of professional standards expected of FCA-authorised key corporate individuals and advisors.
  • Freedom of information issues.
  • Higher education.
  • Human rights issues relating to fair trial and open justice, privacy and freedom of expression and speech.
  • Insurance and insurance-related investment products.
  • Judicial matters: he is a trained judicial trainer and judicial appraiser.
  • Media regulation, editorial and journalistic practice.
  • Telecommunications, particularly in the premium-rate telephony sector.
